FAQ

What is the warranty?

Freelap includes a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

What if I am buying for a school, club, or team?

For schools, clubs, and teams, we recommend using the setup finder or requesting a quote. Roster size, athlete rotation, timing goals, and purchasing requirements can all affect the best setup.

How is Freelap different from hand timing or laser gates?

Freelap removes stopwatch reaction-time error and avoids the setup demands of laser gates. There are no bulky tripods taking training space, and results are displayed and stored in the MyFreelap app.

Can Freelap be used indoors or in bad weather?

Yes. Freelap can be used on the track, turf, driveway, hallway, or indoors. It is rain-resistant and wind-stable for real training conditions.

Can I add chips, transmitters, or components later?

Yes. Freelap systems are expandable. You can start with the setup you need now and add chips, transmitters, relays, or accessories later as your group size or timing needs grow.

Do I need the MyFreelap app?

Yes. Results are displayed and stored in the MyFreelap app, so athletes and coaches can review times by rep, athlete, and session. There is no subscription fee for stored timing data.

What is the difference between FxMotion and FxChip BLE?

FxChip BLE is the best fit for most Track & Field timing setups. It is rechargeable, connects by Bluetooth, does not require a relay, and can capture up to 10 splits.
FxMotion is the advanced chip for coaches who also want reaction time and stride length data. It is rechargeable, connects by Bluetooth, does not require a relay, and can capture up to 5 splits.
Short version: choose FxChip BLE for most timing setups and more split points. Choose FxMotion if reaction time and stride length are important.

Can I time two athletes at once?

Yes, with the right setup. The best configuration depends on whether athletes are running in the same lane, separate lanes, or staggered groups. If you plan to time multiple athletes at the same time, we can help match the system to your workflow.
