FAQ

Can I add chips, transmitters, or components later?

Yes. Freelap systems are expandable. You can start with the setup you need now and add chips, transmitters, relays, or accessories later as your group size or timing needs grow.

What is the difference between FxMotion and FxChip BLE?

FxChip BLE is the best fit for most Track & Field timing setups. It is rechargeable, connects by Bluetooth, does not require a relay, and can capture up to 10 splits.
FxMotion is the advanced chip for coaches who also want reaction time and stride length data. It is rechargeable, connects by Bluetooth, does not require a relay, and can capture up to 5 splits.
Short version: choose FxChip BLE for most timing setups and more split points. Choose FxMotion if reaction time and stride length are important.

Can I time two athletes at once?

Yes, with the right setup. The best configuration depends on whether athletes are running in the same lane, separate lanes, or staggered groups. If you plan to time multiple athletes at the same time, we can help match the system to your workflow.

Can Freelap time flying sprints, starts, and splits?

Yes. Freelap can time starts, acceleration, flying sprints, max velocity zones, split points, repeat reps, and finish times. It is a strong fit for common Track & Field sprint and speed development sessions.

How many chips do I need for a Track team?

You do not need one chip for every athlete. Many teams can work well with one chip for every 3-4 athletes because the MyFreelap roster function helps organize athletes and assign results as groups rotate through reps.

Which Track & Field setup should I choose?

Starter setups are best for solo athletes, parents, and simple sprint timing. Trainer setups are better for coaches working with small groups. Team setups are best for schools, clubs, and larger rosters that need more chips, more rotation, and quote support. Call, text or email to connect with a Coach that can go over the choice for you.
